Up date on Aiden.

Well where to start... Aiden saw his pediatrician on Thursday for a check up. His Inflammation rate was up. When he was in the Hospital it was 35, when they checked it on Thursday it was up to 75. A normal rate for his age is 1o. Basically what that means is that he has an inflammation some where in his body. We already knew that. however the raised inflammation rate bothered his Pediatrician, so she sent him to see a specialist, I did not know what kind of specialist until after his appointment. Which I am actually happy I didn't know until after it was all over. He went to see a Pediatric Oncologist, which for those who don't know is a cancer doctor. After his appointment there he also saw a ENT doctor. The first one wanted to biopsy his lymph nodes, but after the ENT doctor visit, He felt that it was too early for that and said it is not unusual for kids to have swollen glands along with an infection whither it was tonsillitis, ear infection, viral or bacterial, since Aiden had tested positive for Mono he thought that the mono was more likely the cause of his swollen lymph nodes and thought that they should give his body more time to heal. So that's what they are doing. April said that he seems to be feeling OK. So for now another scare averted. I'm sure he will be watched carefully by Mom Dad and Doctors.

For those of you that don't know, I will be going to GF on Monday the 21st. to have my rt wrist operated on for carpel tunnel. It was diagnosed back in July and we were waiting and dealing with it by using braces at night. About a week and a half ago I felt a strange electrical sensation in the palm of my hand and since then my fingers have been numb. My first thought was it was my MS acting up, but I haven't had any problems there for 5-6 years, then I remembered that those are the same fingers the are affected with the carpel tunnel so I called Dr. Clayburgh's office and they agreed, that was most likely the problem and we decided to do the surgery. I was surprised that I could get it done so fast, but this way I don't have to think about it for very long. It is a same day surgery and they will just be putting a bandaid on it when it's done, so it doesn't sound too bad. Well that's my up date... until next time.

We may have a diagnosis!

The Doctors may have found out what is wrong with Aiden. He was taken to see the Doctor again on Wednesday because his rash came back and the glands started to enlarged again including some in the back of his neck. They put him back in the hospital for more tests. They were able to rule out lymphoma. Thank God! The other thing they tested him for was mono which they are waiting for the results to come back. If that's it, he will get to go home again! Yay! I did some searching and found this information......

Mono; Kissing disease
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
Mononucleosis is often transmitted by saliva. While it is known as "the kissing disease," occurring most often in 15- to 17-year-olds, the infection may occur at any age.
Mono may begin slowly with fatigue, general ill feeling (malaise), headache, and sore throat. The sore throat slowly gets worse, often with swollen tonsils covered with a whitish-yellow covering. The lymph nodes in the neck are frequently swollen and painful.
A pink, measles-like rash can occur and is more likely if the patient is given ampicillin or amoxicillin for a throat infection. (Antibiotics should NOT be given without a positive strep test.) The symptoms of mono gradually go away on their own over a period of weeks to months.

Symptoms
Fever
Sore throat
Swollen lymph nodes, especially in the neck and armpit
General discomfort, uneasiness, or ill feeling
Drowsiness
Loss of appetite
Muscle aches or stiffness
Swollen spleen
Rash
Less frequently occurring symptoms include:
Jaundice (yellow cast to skin)
Headache
Neck stiffness
Sensitivity to light
Cough
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Rapid heart rate
Fatigue
Nosebleed
Hives

Signs and tests
During a physical examination, the doctor may find swollen lymph nodes in the front and back of the neck, as well as swollen tonsils with the whitish covering. The doctor might also find a swollen liver or swollen spleen when pushing on your belly. There may be a skin rash.
Laboratory findings often include a higher-than-normal white blood cell count, and the characteristic finding of atypical lymphocytes -- unusual-appearing white blood cells that are seen when blood is examined under a microscope. Abnormal liver function tests are also characteristic.
Common tests for EBV include:
A monospot test (positive for infectious mononucleosis)
Epstein-Barr virus antigen by immunofluorescence (positive for EBV)
Epstein-Barr virus antibody titers to help distinguish acute infection from past infection with EBV

Treatment
Most patients recover within 2-4 weeks without medication. Younger children often don't have symptoms, while some older patients may have fatigue for up to 6 weeks.
There is no specific treatment available. Antiviral medications do not help. Steroid medication may be considered for patients with severe symptoms.
To relieve typical symptoms:
Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and fever.
Gargle with warm salt water for sore throat.
Get plenty of rest. Drink plenty of fluids.
Avoid contact sports while the spleen is swollen (to prevent it from rupturing).

Expectations (prognosis)
The fever usually drops in 10 days, and swollen lymph glands and spleen heal in 4 weeks. Fatigue usually goes away within a few weeks, but may linger for 2 to 3 months.

Well there it is, all you ever want to know about Mono. This may sound strange but we are all hoping that he has Mono. (I highlighted his symptoms in yellow.) I wish I would have know this 2 weeks ago. Will let you all know for sure when the results come in but by the looks of this it sounds like a reasonable answer.

Aidens trip to the hospital

This is what he looked like on, Nov. 15, 2008, before Kevin had taken him to the ER. He was allergic to one of the two antibiotics that they put him on after they stoped the IV antibiotics, he became red from head to toe.
Sunday before he went home he was chowing down on some pizza.
He also developed thrush from being on such strong IV antibiotics and it killed off all bacteria including the good kind that protects you from things like thrush. Isn't it pretty?

He doesn't look all that happy right here but we were taking him home and he really was.
Time to go home!

Back to work.

I see I haven't done any blogging since August. I have been busy but I 'm not sure what all I have been doing. Well my basic schedule for the fall and winter mounts consists of. Going to work from 12:00 midnight until 8:00 am. Then if I have to buy any thing at Wal-Mart, K-mart, Leevers Wally's, or appointments this is the time I do that. I go home check out what's on TV. Maybe check whats going on on the computer.

I will maybe watch a little TV or do something on the computer. Then I go to bed and sleep any where from 3- 6 hours. Then I get up shower then try to think of something for supper which is hard, cuz my brain says eggs and Bacon but I know I need to do more than that. We eat supper I do the dishes, maybe 1/2 another hour of TV and it's back to bed for me until 11:30 or so.... Then It's back to work and it all starts over again. S there you have it a day in the life of Penny Keck. Gee I'm getting tired again. imagine that.

Metal Detecting goodies.

This is what Dwight found last week end, at the boy/girl scout camp.
This is the ring I found this morning at the old girl/boy scout camp. Nice don't you think? It even fits me.

I found 4 wheat pennies the oldest one 1919 I found on the top! I didn't even have to dig for it.

And we both found several wheat pennies. Some clad and of course a lot of metal junk. One other thing was a ash tray that had a camel ad on it. On Monday I had found a wheat penny in a yard that I was detecting on in town.

I had what I thought was a 1914D wheat penny, I took it to that guy that has a coin and jewery shop at Main Street Cafe. He told me that it was a 1914 D but that the 1914s was the better of the two. He also told me that if he were to buy it, he would pay me $32. That was after I had check on the Internet to find that it was worth a lot of money. I have been so excited and thrilled that I had found some thing that was really worth some good money. At least $200. to 400. Tonight I took a picture of it which came out very clear so clear in fact that I just realized that it was actually a 1911 d. I could have sworn that it was a 1914 D. Dwight said that was what he saw, and that is what the guy from the coin store said, that was even after he looked at it through he's special lens. I had him put it in a protection holder to keep it safe. I have not looked at it that close again until I took this picture tonight. I looked at it through MS Picture Viewer and it was so clear that I took a closer look again and it is definitely a 1911 d. I am SO bummed now:( here is the picture): It shows up so much better when it's blown up 100% I looked at it and looked and sure enough it is an 1911. Dwight said do you think he could have witched it...
I wish I would have taken the picture before it left the house if he did find a way to switch it I'm screwed, even if he didn't I'm just bummed. Well it felt good for now.
I also found a Mercury dime... Which is a 1941 wait it's a 1943.

The Cabin is now 2/3's our!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday Dwight met with Lena at 2:00 pm and they signed an agreement and Dad handed over a check.
So Lena is no out of our lives. She turned over the deed to the lake and the lots at Crary. There were some tense moments for Dwight, but he is sleeping better now and it's going to end a lot of tension. He said it's like a heavy weight has been lifted off his chest. I'm so glad it's over. Yeah Norma still has a share 1/3 but I don't think she plans to sell to any one any time soon. At least that what she says now.

Trojins, worms I could scream!

Our computer is as good as dead. I was doing a search and I'm not sure what happened. I started to get pop ups that said we had a worm that has infiltrated our computer and is making it run slowly. Then the next thing I knew a software started scanning and claiming that we had several vicious viruses and that their program was the only one that could fix it. I'm pretty sure it's the soft ware is what is causing all the problems. This is the worse I have ever seen. It has even taken over our desk top. The background is a dark red and it has a picture of some thing red exploding, being blown to pieces I guess it's our computer. Oh and some pron popped up a couple of times. It was gross! Dwight unhooked the Internet connection and the phone line. I'm using Dwight's lap top from work so I could do a few bills. I thought it would be a good time to update my blog. I wish I could tell you when our computer will work again but it doesn't look good. You can't do any thing on the Internet because all it does is open one window after another and goes though the same thing each time with the same software trying to get us to download their software. It's called win-spy terminator or something like that. Any way that's all I have to say. Viruses suck!!

Sunday, May 25

Congratulations Sydney

I'm too tired too be able to finish any more tonight so I will finish it
it tomorrow morning. Have a great life Syndeny!!
