This was going to be one of her graduation pictures. Why am I putting it up now?? Because she called last night and she has completed all of her HS diploma requirements!!! Posted by Picasa

This is Alicia when she was just so cute. Don't you just want to pinch those little cheeks? Posted by Picasa

Yayyyyyy Alicia!

Alicia called us last night and she told us that she has completed all of there HS diploma yesterday!! It was the best news. I am so proud of her for working so hard and getting it finished so early. Dwight promised her a different car when she finished her diploma and I promise her a party. I guess we will have to start making plans. She does still have maybe 3-4 weeks to finish her trade which is Medical Office Support. So we have some time to plan. It's not the planning I'm worried about it's getting the house ready. That's going to take some time. Today I'm going to drive to Minot to pick her up for a weekend break and I think she really deserves it. I'm going to try to get up around 2pm and leave here by 3pm I would like to get back because Dwight's old boss and his wife will be in town and I want to be able to see them while they are here. They are going to have a open house kind of thing at the Pizza Ranch tonight from 6:30-9:00 so I hope I can get back early enough to visit with them, I also need to go to a couple of stores while I'm in Minot. I want to go to Walmart to look for a valance to go with the curtains in the kitchen. I got them here at Walmart but they didn't have the valance so I'm hoping to find one there. Then I want to check out Menard's for a light which is also for the kitchen. I have been procrastinating buying a shower gift for my nephew's future wife, Shannon. Well I better get to bed I have a buzy day ahead of me. I just had to share this with everyone.
Hats off to you Alicia!!!!!!!!! We love you!

Yayyyyy The Kitchen looks like a Kitchen!!

Well I'm so happy that the kitchen can be used again. Although I didn't complain too much when we had to go out to eat so often. Except for the expense that is, but it really isn't that bad for only two people to eat out.
I 'm getting use to the stove it's so different from my old one. All those buttons. The microwave is the same way. There is a button for every thing, I think it takes me longer to pick a button than it does to cook something LOL. Really though I think once I get use to it I will really like it. Like I said we still have some finishing touches to do, but we will work on them whenever. Under the sink there is a blank drawer. I want to stencil some roses there, but I'm still trying to decide on the colors. Dwight has talked about putting some frosted glass with some kind of sketching on it. We have a neighbor ( someone I graduated high school with) that does that kind of work. Then he wants to put some lighting behind it. I thought that would be cool too. But I'm not so sure what something like that would cost, We will be looking into it. Then over by the stove there is an area we left without wall paper because things are so tight in that area that it would just tare and if we would have kept the old oven none of that area would have been open. But now that we have a different oven/microwave we have to fix that area, it's a good thing that we have extra paper left. One last thing to fix is the small cabinet that is between the stove and fridge, We are not sure if we want to change what we have or order something with the same counter top as the other side. I love the pewter in that display case. I will have to go looking for more things like that to put on the top of the other cupboard. The one above the stove and fridge. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My pewter colection, The plate on the top belonged to my grandmoter Hammond. The other items I picked up at auctions. Posted by Picasa

Fridge In this area we need to paint in the corner and there is suppose to have a sm. counter beteen the fridge and oven. Posted by Picasa

Oven and Microwave, it was a tough job getting the microwave in but it's working now and we have a little painting and wall paper to patch up. Posted by Picasa

I love my new appliances. Posted by Picasa

We still have some of the details to take care of. Posted by Picasa

Another short story about Zoey.

Well a few days ago I decided to put Zoey's water and food dish back in the kitchen where it has been since we have had her. I had moved it to the dining room while we were working on the kitchen. That same night Dwight and I were eating in the dining room and Zoey came from the kitchen and just meow two time very loud and almost like she was yelling at us. Dwight and I just looked at each other and said what was that all about? I said, "I moved her food back to the kitchen this morning do you suppose she doesn't like it there?" Well I got up and move her dish back to the dining room close to our table and she just walked over to it and started eating! I guess she knows what she wants. And sometimes we can figure it out what it is and other times we'll never know. Oh well. This is my excitement for the week. Oh wait... Did I say that Dwight picked up the oven and microwave yesterday Yayyyyy! Now all he has to do is figure out a way to mount the microwave above the oven and to the wall, it needs a separate outlet, (it's own power source) and of course it needs to be grounded. Yeah well we live in an old house, and our electrical box has no free area to put a new outlet in. I'm not sure how he is going to do that. (and I don't think he know yet either). But, I'm hoping it will get done this weekend and then I can take pictures and post them. I have faith that he'll think of a way, he always does. You rock Dwight! Just for the record I appreciate every thing that you have been doing to the kitchen I know that it has turned in to a much larger project than what we first planed, but it is turning out great!

My kitchen is almost finished!

Well this last weekend "we" or should I say Dwight got a lot done! The floor is in and the fridge was picked up and is in! WooHoo! We also decided to get a new stove and microwave. Yeah! They will be here this week and then I can call it finished! Dwight will have to figure out how he is going to mount the microwave. It has to go over the top of the stove. The oven/microwave we had before was all in one unit and is no longer made the only place I could find one was on E-bay and the choices were avocado green (ewe) or white and black, but I'm thinking that it would be as old as the one we already have which was harvest gold and in the same condition so why not go all the way and get something new. "Bite the bullet" as Dwight put it. I have been putting some of the stuff back in their places and making a few changes along the way. I'm going through every thing before I decide if it will deserve to be put back into the kitchen. I don't want it to be as cluttered as it was before. We will also have special pick(garbage) for large items the we want to throw out what good timing! I think by this weekend I will be able to take some pictures and post them and you can all see the final results. I was worried about the floor at first because it was so bold that I thought maybe I had gone too far. But once the black fridge was in I loved it! It made a big difference. I can't wait until we get the new oven/stove, which is black and white and the microwave which is black and it will take some time to get use to. The one we have now is very low wattage. The new one will be a good 75% stronger! I'm really looking forward to using it. Well I'm getting tired of typing so until the next time......

April & Alicia Seeing is believing!

OK girls.... This is going to be a shock to both of you. I don't know how to prepare you for what you are about to see. Yes, I was so surprised myself. I never thought the day would come. I don't know where to start. I was just sitting on the couch minding my own business when out of the blue here comes Zoey. At first she just did the same old rubbing against my legs. Then she turned around to show me her butt. Just like any other day. But it wasn't like other days... She turned towards me and jumped onto my lap!!! She made herself comfortable and just laid there like she does it every day! But you both know that is not normal for her. Either she is getting old and doesn't realize that it is me or she is just getting more comfortable with me. Yeah after what maybe 3 years of feeding her, cleaning her litter box, brushing her, and trying to play with her. She has finally acknowledged me as someone she can trust. Wow I'm still in shock! I yelled at Dad "quick get the camera the girls will never believe it if it isn't any proof....So here you go.

She is not being held against her will. Honest! Posted by Picasa

See she likes me!! Posted by Picasa

Still not finished!!

Well we did get some work done in the kitchen done. We(Dwight) needs to make a template for the floor so we can use it for cutting the tile that we will put in. We got the shelves up over the oven and old fridge. Dwight finished painting the family room side of the door. I washed clothes and cleaned the house. It looks better than it has in a long time. I almost have the table and the buffet cleaned off it has been serving as a catch all for stuff that I don't know what to do with. The family room still has quite a bit of the kitchen stuff in it. I'm hoping that I will box up a lot of it for that rummage sale that I didn't have this summer and either donate it some place of toss it. I don't know if I will ever get a rummage sale going. Maybe next year????? Yeah right. I'll do it next year. Sure I will, honest! We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Any way Since we did get some work done on Saturday we decided to take Sunday off and treat our selves to a day on the lake. Yes it was a absolutely beautiful day! I took more pictures and will post some of them later today after I get home. I heaved seen them larger so I'm not sure how they turned out yet. You can see that summer is slowly coming to an end by looking at the trees. Last weekend they were still green this weekend.....Well you will have to see for yourself after I post my pictures. Well before I stop typing this I have a question. Why is it every time I type up a blog, when I run the spell checker and the stupid thing doesn't know how to spell blog or blogger?? I always push learn but it can not seem to spell it, what's up with that anyway??

Oh Dwight and I have been smelling some kind of odor in the house. We looked every where! I Cleaned out the litter box, and the fridge, vacuumed and looked every where I could think of to looking. Well Saturday I decided I was going to look until I found it. OMG pewew I found it!! I tracked it to the family room which I thought how am I ever going to fine anything in here, well with my nose I guess. I finally I found the area where it was the strongest and it was our big cooler. Open it up and ahahahahahah my god I have never smelt anything so bad.....The entire house started to smell the same. It was so gross. I had asked Dwight to empty the cooler last weekend and He some how missed the fresh package of raw chicken in the cooler. WOW it really was the most disgusting thing I ever smelt. I May never eat chicken again. It took almost 2 hours a gallon of vinegar, almost 2 cans of air spray and a box of soda to get the smell out of the house!! The moral of this story is don't always trust your husband to empty the cooler!!

Sorry Dwight I couldn't help my self after inhaling all that toxic smell.

Grandma is doing great!

First I want to let my girls know that Grandma went through the angiography with fling colors! She is feeling much better and expects to go home tomorrow. Yea! That said I have a story to tell about our cat Zoey, This morning when I got home from work. I was picking up and cleaning up the kitchen which I hope will get finished this coming weekend??? :] (maybe wishful thinking on my part) Any way I stepped into the family room and saw Zoey walking in and said "Oh Zoey I forgot to change your litter box this week end." I walked out and continued what I was doing, when I got back to the familyroom Zoey was sitting on top of her litter box! Just sitting there waiting for me. I have never seen her sit on top of the cover before. It was like she understood me and was waiting for me to clean it! I got it cleaned out and she went right in and used it. Is that crazy or what!! Well that was the highlight of my day, Oh and work was great this morning everyone cooperated and was in a good mood! I was a good day.

I hate that damn camera! Posted by Picasa

Maybe if I fall asleep she will go away! Posted by Picasa
